Abdelnour E. Charbatji, 85, passed on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21st. He died at home, surrounded by the great love of his family. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the son of the late Elias Charbatji and Lucia (Soulage) Charbatji.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgette (Osko) Charbatji and his children John A. Charbatji, Raymond Charbatji, his wife Donna, and Armande Aywas. He was the grandfather of 9: Anthony, Raymond, Georgette, Johnny, Nicole, Demetri Katherina, Amanda and Sophie. He was the great grandfather of 7: Elysia, Jacob, Amber, Emmett, Olivia, Eva and Lucas, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of Marie Bali and the late George Charbatji, Zakiya Farah and Eliza Darakji .
Abdelnour, a master tailor by the age of 18 with his own established business, decided to come to America in July of 1974. After several years working at Health Tex, he re-established his own tailor shop in 1979, on Smithfield Avenue in Pawtucket, of which he ran until he retired at the age of 72. After retiring, he enjoyed time with his family and friends, and playing cards with his nephews Mike and Toni, and buddies, on Friday nights.
The family wishes to express their most sincere thanks and appreciation to Beacon Hospice Nurses, Cathy, Kim and Summer, as well as Home Health Aides Licaira and Florentina for the care and support not only of their Father and Mother, but to them as well. There are truly angels in disguise in this world!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, June 24th from 5-8pm at St. Ephraim Church, Washington St. Central Falls. His funeral will be held Thursday, June 25th at 10am at St. Ephraim Church as well. Burial is private at Swan Point Cemetery due to Covid-19
